St. Paul Art Crawl: Come Visit my Studio!

I’ll be showing paintings for the very first time at the St. Paul Art Crawl. I’ll also have hand painted silk scarves  — just in time for air-conditioning season!

Some of my paintings have reflective paints, which really must be seen in person. Stop by! I’m in the Lowertown Lofts Artist Cooperative, Studio 308.

I  have a piece of writing and a sculptural artwork published in the Spring 2012 issue of Haute Dish.

My work is on pages 21 and 25!

The art is on page 21:  Easter House

The creative nonfiction is on page 25:  The Curse

There are plenty of other great pieces.

My Art Silks are for Sale in Eagan, December 3-9

Fun fact — silk is four times warmer than wool, yet breathes in summer heat.

Now, just in time for a Minnesota big chill, I’ve got new silk art scarves for sale at the Aslan Craft Bazaar.

It runs today, Saturday through Friday, December 3-9, 9 AM to 4 PM.

Come glide your finger over one-of-a-kind, shimmering silk scarves, handkerchiefs, hangable art, and reusable gift bags. Bask in the glow of complex batik, shibori, and drop-dead gorgeous colors.

These really are the perfect gifts for everyone – including you!

I’ll be there Saturday and Sunday — stop by for a visit. Still not convinced? There’ll be snacks!

The Aslan Institute is a really cool place, just south of the Mall of America. For directions, click here.

Another Silly Sketch

A recent drawing I did from a Blob Thursday  offering on Carla Sonheim’s blog. Pencil on top of an archival ink print.

Thank you, Art Crawlers!

The Fall 2011 Art Crawl was a complete success. I had fun, met more new people than I can keep track of, and several of my pieces found new homes. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, including family and friends.

“Saint Rat” was the first piece I sold. One of my favorite silly pieces. 🙂

St. Paul Art Crawl or Bust!

Hand-dyed silks by Serena Mira Asta.

I commited to participating in the Fall 2011 Saint Paul Art Crawl! Submitted my name and a photo for the catalog and everything. I’m planning on creating lots of fiber art. Silks scarves, wraps, cotton blankets, luxury fiber to knit and spin. And lots of other fun stuff. Come visit!

Last Art Camp Starts Today!

Carla Sonheim has developed Silly U, from which she teaches Online Summer Art Camps for the professional and novice of all ages. Which ya gotta love.

Today I start her Junk Mail Artist’s Book, which goes well with other Art I love. Namely reusing and recycling materials from ’round the  house to make art. So, whee! Here I go!
